Six new volumes of the Victoria County History (VCH) of Wiltshire have gone online.
The free website British History Online has added six volumes of the VCH (Volumes 5, 7,11, 13, 14 and 15) to the nine already online, completing the published coverage of the county:

A part volume, covering the religious houses of Wiltshire. It includes an account of Salisbury cathedral to the twentieth century.
Volume 4
Elizabeth Crittall (editor) (1959)
A thematic account of the agricultural, industrial, social and sporting history of the county. Also includes an account of the royal forests.
Volume 5

Contains thematic accounts of the parliamentary and governmental history of the county, and of developments in medicine and public health.

Calne, a small town in north Wiltshire, stood on a large royal estate, and the witan met there – St Dunstan survived the partial collapse of a building at one meeting.
Some very interesting points raised here, which has got me thinking!
