The official Scottish family history website ScotlandsPeople has provided the following news:
“2010 has been a busy year for ScotlandsPeople with the new version of the site, including new Catholic Parish Register records being launched in September.
Another year’s images
“We are pleased to announce that the new year’s statutory images containing records from the Statutory Register of Births for 1910, the Statutory Register of Marriages for 1935 and the Statutory Register of Deaths for 1960 will be released on the site on January 1st.
“Please note that our help desk is planning to observe the public holidays of 27th and 28th December and 3rd Jan and 4th Jan. During this time we will keep you informed of the site status via the normal online message system.
Reactivate your expired credits
“ScotlandsPeople would like to offer all customers who have existing credits in their account the opportunity to re-activate and use the credits at no cost through the use of a voucher code. We are doing this to allow customers who have expired credits to take the opportunity to use these without making a purchase.
“All customers who have existing credits can now use the free voucher code ‘festive’ which will re-set the credit expiry to 90 days in their account. Customers may use this voucher any time until 1.00 pm. on Wednesday 5th January 2011. The voucher may only be used once in each account.
Start Your Family History Week
“All the talk of family stories around the Christmas dinner table makes the festive period the perfect time to focus on building your family tree. Each day from Boxing Day until New Year’s Day, ScotlandsPeople will be giving you a helping hand with your journey into your past. We’ll give you hints and tips on how best to research your family tree and how to get the most out of our records.
Competition
“To enter ScotlandsPeople’s festive family history challenge prize draw, with a chance to win ScotlandsPeople credits, answer the question posted on the ScotlandsPeople website and then send your answer in an email with the subject line ‘Festive challenge’ before midnight on 10 January 2011 (UK time) to spcompetition@brightsolid.com, including your name, postal address and daytime telephone number.
“Finally, look out shortly for exciting announcements regarding the addition of more records to the site.”

I can’t access the databases on scotlandspeople under the new format. It will not allow me to search. Any help will be appreciated; I’ve used the site before (last year) with no problems.
Thanks,
James King
