Kent Probate Indexes from 1508-1894 are now available on the National Wills Index, and a Middlesex Burials Index from 1538-1890 has been added to the City of London Burials collection.
Kent Probate Indexes: 1508-1894
The first Kent probate indexes available on the National Wills Index include over 13,400 wills from the Archdeaconry and Consistory Courts of Rochester, and over 27,800 inventories of Kent testators.
Kent has the largest collection of probate records of any English county but there are as yet no published indexes to much of this material. Indexes to all of these records will become available on the National Wills Index in 2012.
Searching can be performed on: Name, County / Place, Court, Document Type, Occupation, and Year Range.
