This applies to the 1911 Census of England, Wales, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.
The family history websites Genes Reunited and Find My Past UK are offering free access to all 1911 census transcriptions from now until 18th November 2012.
Genes Reunited
Genes Reunited says: “The 1911 census is a great place to start researching your family history as the records are the most detailed of any census. It includes places of birth, details of siblings, occupations, how many children have been born to the marriage, how many still alive at the time of the census and how many had died.”
“We’ve now reduced the price of 1911 original images from 30 credits (£3.00) to 5 credits (0.50p). This means you can view six times as many images for your money. The 1911 census was filled in by hand by each head of household, so it’s a chance to see your ancestor’s own handwriting.”
Find My Past UK
Find My Past UK says: “Until 18 November 2012, you can view a 1911 census transcript for free on our website – this usually costs 10 credits. We’ve also lowered the cost of viewing an original 1911 census image – you’ll pay just 5 credits instead of 30.
“Even more good news: we always try to offer you the best possible value for money, so when this offer ends on 18 November, we’ll permanently reduce the price of viewing the 1911 census to 5 credits for a transcript and 5 credits for an original image.”
