The Society of Genealogists now has a new website (after announcing it to members two months ago!).
June Perrin, the chief executive of the Society of Genealogists, the UK’s biggest genealogy society, says: “We are hoping you will like the design and the ease with which you can find things. The address will remain the same. This will of course mean one or two changes but they should be ultimately for the better.
“You will no longer have to be in a dedicated Members area (MySoG) to access our data online or to shop with your member discount. Instead, when you login you will be able to update your profile and do all the things you can at the moment, but should you decide to leave the profile area, as long as you are logged in, you will be able to go anywhere on the site and it will recognise you as a Member.
“If you have already validated on our current MySoG, you can use your existing email address and password to login to the new site. (If you haven’t validated or visited MySog, you can either validate now on our current website, or you will be able to validate on the new site by visiting the Register/Login page and clicking on ‘validate’ about half way down the page). Remember to have your Membership card handy as you will need details from this.
“If you have saved any of our page locations/URLs in your favourites you may need to update these but we have tried to do some links to relevant areas of the new site.
“Please feel free to provide feedback. All comments will be welcome and ‘wish list’ items can all be assembled ready for a phase two update to the site.”
The new website has new features, including some very good record guides.
