Eight million Welsh parish registers are being made available online. This means that people researching their Welsh ancestors will no longer have to travel to one of the Welsh county record offices or to the National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth (although it’s a fine place for research) to view the parish registers.

The Irish Family History Foundation’s Online Research Service has announced the availability of records from Irish Midlands Ancestry covering the parishes of County Laois (formerly Queen’s County) and County Offaly (formerly King’s County), adding another 800,000 records to its online database.

The Irish Republic’s Minister for Tourism, Culture and Sport has announced that more church genealogy records will become available in June 2010.
