More English and Welsh wills proved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury (PCC) have been added to The Genealogist subscription website.
The Genealogist has added more than 30,000 records to its PCC Wills and Probate Records, bringing the total number of records to over 570,000. The wills are searchable by name, year of will, year of probate, area and profession, and the search results also show the image of the original record. The Genealogist now has over 100 years of wills available, which is shortly to be extended to cover all years. (These wills are also available via The National Archives’ Documents Online pay-per-view website.)
The Genealogist website also contains indexes of wills proved in Bristol (1572-1792), Edinburgh (1601-1700), the Prerogative Court of Armagh, Ireland (1536-1810), Leicester (1495-1649 and 1660-1750), Northampton and Rutland (1510-1652) and York (1398-1652).
