A quarter of a million English and Scottish cemetery burial records have recently been made available online.
Deceased Online has announced that it has put a further 250,000 cemetery burial records online, featuring Salcombe in Devon, Newark in Nottinghamshire, northwest London and the City of Aberdeen.
Deceased Online says: “Scotland leads the way with 190,000 burial records for ten major cemeteries in the country’s third largest city, Aberdeen. These will all be online later this Summer, but 23,600 are available now! They comprise scans of burial registers, contents of lairs (graves) and computerised records. You can read full details of cemeteries, locations and timings on the ‘Database coverage’ section of the website.
And there’s more for England too:
- A long way south of the border in the English county of Devon, 3,100 burial records from two cemeteries for the small coastal town of Salcombe are available online now.
- The historic and picturesque town of Newark in Nottinghamshire has a fascinating cemetery opened in 1856, and we’ve just added 40,000 records. Although the area is perhaps more famous for Robin Hood, the Polish war leader General Wladyslaw Sikorski, who died in controversial circumstances, was buried in Newark Cemetery in 1943.
- Carpender’s Park is a small cemetery on the edge of northwest London. Although administered by the London Borough of Brent, it’s located near Watford in Hertfordshire and we’ve just added all 10,000 burial records.
- We’re also busy working on over a million records for the UK’s two largest cemeteries situated in London. There’s a lot of work here, but we hope to have a full range of records available at the end of the Summer.
There’s lots more coming for Scotland too.
