A new site called Connected Histories lets you search several history databases together.
The new site says: “Connected Histories brings together a range of digital resources related to early modern and nineteenth century Britain with a single federated search that allows sophisticated searching of names, places and dates, as well as the ability to save, connect and share resources within a personal workspace.”
At present, there are 11 major resources included in the search, many of which are London-orientated. The resources are:
- British History Online
- British Museum Images
- British Newspapers 1600-1900
- Charles Booth Archive
- Clergy of the Church of England Database 1540-1835
- House of Commons Parliamentary Papers
- John Johnson Collection of Printed Ephemera
- John Strype’s Survey of London Online
- London Lives 1690-1800
- Origins.net (certain London-based databases only)
- Proceedings of the Old Bailey Online 1674-1913
