A new version of the FamilySearch website has been launched by the LDS Church.
The new FamilySearch site makes it easier to search the genealogies put online by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the ‘Mormons’), and which were included in their Ancestral File and Pedigree Resource File.
You can also search the FamilySearch Catalog of genealogical materials (including books, online materials, microfilm, microfiche, and publications) made available by FamilySearch. Many items can be loaned to local LDS Family History Centers around the world (which you don’t have to be a member of the LDS Church to use).
In addition, you can search more than 40,000 genealogical publications that have been digitised by a number of libraries in the United States.
The FamilySearch site now holds 103 historical record collections from the United Kingdom and Ireland (59 of which have images, some of which have to be viewed on other payment websites).
