A silver plaque presented to Alexander Brodie in 1786 is up for sale.
Calling all Alexander Brodie relatives! All relatives who have £3,650 to spend, that is! If you do, you may like to buy this shield, which was presented to Alexander Brodie for putting out a fire on 24 June 1786 in Symond’s Inn (which held records of Chancery cases). At this site, there’s a PDF file with more information.
(Alexander Brodie (1733-1811) was my six times great uncle. I came across the silver plaque while looking for information in connection with the Chancery proceedings (1811 until at least 1840) about Alexander Brodie’s will.)
